The Dominican Republic, the heart of the Caribbean was discovered in 1492 by the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, working for the then Spanish monarchy. Formerly called Hispaniola, the island is rich in history and culture.
Cabrera Town was previously called Tres Amarras, because Christopher Columbus sought refuge during a hurricane and moored his caravel with 3 moorings, to avoid capsizing.
The name of Villa Tres Amarras refers to this historical event that happened on our beach, but also represents the past, present and future. The key to time and the anchor of our common history.
